Gulf Shores Red Snapper & Gag Grouper Inshore Fishing Report

Shallow Water Red Snapper & Gag Grouper

Fishing reports by Reel Attraction Charters
Fishing off the Gulf Shores Beaches.

We had a blast fishing just 3 miles out from the beautiful white sandy beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. The weather was really choppy this morning in the Gulf. We fished primarily the north west edge of Dixie Bar and the south end of the  Mobile Bay waterways. Slow bite morning and as the day progressed the winds subsided and things got much better. As we left the Gulf Shores Marina, we headed to the Double Rig just three miles off the Gulf Shores Coast in about 40 foot of water. The waters were loaded with jellyfish. So thick that when we tried to troll, the jelly was tripping the planers. I decided to do some bottom fishing and it paid off. We caught quite a few red snapper and one gag grouper. We were on the tail end of the low tide and as the tide dropped to an end, so did the bite. Blessed with a good day of Inshore Fishing.

Gulf Shores Fishing Reports: Todays Summary

We observed a better bite and  much better weather today. Had good luck trolling this morning catching Bluefish and 1 Cobia. This evening we caught quite a few Red Snapper and Gag Grouper. Baits that were used were live ground mullet, croaker, menhaden and cut squid. The waters were really clear and it made a difference on the inshore/near shore fishing conditions. The waters have been very dingy Inshore. The high winds for the past few day have cleared that up. Going by the lunar phase, it was correct! The fish did start biting really good from twelve o'clock pm and diminished at about five o'clock pm.
