Gulf Shores Dolphin Fishing Report

Dolphin Fishing Report! Not the mammal dolphin, the mahi-mahi aka Dorado fish.

Dolphin still hanging close inshore off the Gulf Shores Beaches. Reports show a couple were caught off the Alabama State Pier. Black Snapper bite was pretty good of the Double Rig just SE of Mobile Bay. Spanish are hitting live shrimp with about every three Hard Tails. Their were a few kings brought in at noon today at the Gulf Shores Marina.

Reel Attraction Dorado Fishing Tips

Once you locate a school of dolphin fish, leave your first fish that you catch out! Then continue to fish casting your bait of choice. This first fish will continue to keep the others in the school close to your vessel. Most of the time you will drift out of the school but your first fish will act as your decoy. Vigorous leaps, soaring bites get your blood pumping when you get into a good school of these dolphin fish. With a short 4 to 5 year life span these fish start to reproduce at a very young age and are very aggressive feeders. They stay constantly on the move and typically hang near offshore structures, weed lines and open waters. Smaller dolphin fish known as chicken dolphin are sometimes found off the Gulf Shores Beaches during the right conditions. Baits can be anything from cut bait, rigged ballyhoo to almost anything casted, fast trolled and shiny.
